Le Nguyen Vuong Linh, whose father is an engineer and mother a journalist, has become well known for the 12 gold and silver medals he won at the Singaporean national Olympiads in math, physics, chemistry, biology and astronomy.
Linh has about 50 medals and credits from his four-year study at the Anglo Chinese School.
Despite his academic achievements, Linh has never attended any international competition because he insists on Vietnamese citizenship.
Linh also is well known for his 44/45 scores for his IB (International Baccalaureate), 2,330/2,400 in SAT1 and 2,400/2,400 in SAT2.
Linh is now a student majoring in chemistry at Colgate University in the US on a full scholarship of $248,000 granted by the school.
The training course is expected to last four years. He hopes to become a professional chemist who can work with healthcare experts to create medicine to cure serious diseases.
Ly Le Quan from Vietnam was one of the three most excellent students at Sydney Technology University named in the final round for university and post-university student awards.
Quan, who attended the New South Wales’ international student award ceremony, served as a symbol of Vietnamese youth studying in the country.
Quan began studying in Australia in 2011, majoring in biomedical engineering.
Music talent
Duc Anh, a former student at Freiburg Music Academy, won second prize in the international piano competition Alkan-Zimmerman, where there was no first prize, held in Athens in May 2014.
Anh brought Alkan’s music to Vietnam early last year when he participated in two shows.
Anh is a member of a family with great achievements in music. His grandfather is the late musician Nguyen Dinh Phuc and his father is a lecturer at the Vietnam National Academy of Music.
Hoang Long, a Vietnamese attending at Liszt Ferenc Music Academy, is famous in Hungary as he repeatedly appeared in local newspapers as a singer who has a very beautiful opera voice.
Long was a student of the Vietnam National Academy of Music before he left for Hungary to study on a full scholarship granted by the Hungarian government.
The two sisters Do Phung Giang Quynh and Do Phung Bao Quyen attended Yale University, a private Ivy League school in the US.
Quynh, after graduating, began work as an assistant to the editor-in-chief of Basic Books in New York. Quyen received a full scholarship from the Bill Gates Scholarship Fund.
