VietNamNet Bridge – Nguyen Thi Anh Vien has performed well to defeat strong rivals from Thailand and the Republic of Korea.

She finished first at the women’s 200m individual medley event on August 22, clocked at 2min15sec09, 2.19 seconds ahead of Suwannachet Sarisa from Thailand to win the second gold after her first one in the 200m backstroke event.

Vien also pocketed a silver medal in the 100m backstroke event and has qualified for the 50m backstroke’s final stage scheduled for August 23.

Her teammate Duy Khoi came third in the men’s 200m backstroke event, clocked at 2min9sec7.

Meanwhile, tennis player Ly Hoang Nam defeated Kazakhstan’s Dmitry Popko 2-0 to seize the opportunity of winning the first gold medal for Vietnam in a continental competition.

He is scheduled to meet No.2 seed Jurence Mendoza from the Philippines in the final match.
