Khanh Hoa Province recorded an impressive tourism revenue of over 53 trillion VND (approximately $2.2 billion) in 2024, driven by more than 10.8 million visitors. The province's strategic initiatives and high-profile events have fueled this remarkable growth.

According to Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, Director of Khanh Hoa’s Department of Tourism, the total number of visitors in 2024 represents a 49% increase compared to 2023 and exceeds the target by 20.6%. International arrivals reached 4.7 million, marking a 98.76% year-over-year increase.

Strategies for success

Thanh attributed the success to the province’s comprehensive strategy to attract tourists. This included enhancing service quality, investing in workforce training, and collaborating with other localities to create interconnected tourism hubs.

Khanh Hoa launched numerous promotional campaigns targeting key international markets such as China, Kazakhstan, and Thailand. The province also welcomed international survey delegations to diversify its foreign visitor base.

Local enterprises and airlines partnered with the government to introduce new tourism packages and promotions, attracting both domestic and international tourists.

Major events, such as the Nha Trang Beach Tourism Festival and the international drone light show Nha Trang Bay of Light 2024, drew large crowds, further cementing the province's appeal.

“Millions of international visitors chose Khanh Hoa as their destination in Vietnam, alongside strong domestic tourism,” Thanh noted.

Community tourism and sustainability

Khanh Hoa is renowned for its diverse offerings, from pristine islands to vibrant community tourism. With its welcoming locals, rich cuisine, and breathtaking landscapes, the province continues to innovate and expand its tourism products.

Beyond its traditional island tourism model, Khanh Hoa is focusing on mountain and community-based tourism, emphasizing environmental protection.

One example is the development of a community tourism site in Bich Dam, Nha Trang.

“In today’s context, sustainable tourism combined with clean agriculture is essential. This not only opens new business opportunities but also diversifies tourism offerings, giving visitors unique ‘green’ experiences while contributing to environmental conservation,” Thanh explained.

Khanh Hoa aims to welcome 11.8 million visitors in 2025. To achieve this, the province plans to strengthen partnerships with other regions and implement comprehensive tourism promotion campaigns.
