On the evening of September 28, news spread on social media that part of the stage structure at Phu Tho Sports Center in HCM City, the planned venue for two important rounds of the competition, had collapsed during construction.

In response to the incident, the organizers officially announced the technical mishap that occurred during the completion of the main stage for Miss Cosmo 2024.

"On September 28, 2024, a technical issue occurred during the finalization of the main stage for Miss Cosmo 2024. Upon discovery, the Miss Cosmo organizing team quickly coordinated with technical experts, medical units, and relevant authorities to address the situation. Initial assessments confirm that there was no significant damage. We will continue to work with all parties involved to determine the root cause of the issue and will update the public as soon as possible," stated the announcement.

The organizing committee emphasized that their top priority is ensuring the health and safety of all contestants. "Furthermore, we have swiftly implemented measures to ensure the health and stability of all contestants. The safety of the contestants is currently our top priority," the announcement added.

Currently, the organizing committee has not disclosed detailed information about the cause of the incident or the remediation plan. Although there has been no official announcement about changes to the schedule, the organizers indicated that they would provide specific information about the semifinal and final nights of Miss Cosmo 2024 later.

The stage for the Miss Cosmo contest began to be set up a few days ago at Phu Tho Sports Center. By September 28, the stage was essentially complete, ready for the contestants to begin rehearsals for the show.

The incident has caused concern among fans of the Miss Cosmo 2024 contest in Vietnam and many other countries. With the announcement of no serious damage, fans hope that the semifinal (October 2) and final (October 5) will proceed as planned.

The judging panel for Miss Cosmo 2024 includes: Paula Shugart - former President of the Miss Universe Organization, Pham Quang Vinh - former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and former Ambassador of Vietnam to the United States, George Chien - Co-founder, CEO, and President of KC Global Media, Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu, and beauty queen Kim Duyen.

The representative for Vietnam at the contest is Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 Bui Xuan Hanh.
