Ha Noi lead national rowing event
Ha Noi took the lead over 12 teams at the National Rowing Tournament in Hoa Vang District in the central coastal city of Da Nang yesterday, March 11.
The team grabbed nine gold, four silver and four bronze medals.
Hai Duong finished second with two golds, three silvers and six bronzes, while Thai Binh came in third with two golds.
Tomorrow, the National Canoeing Tournament will begin at the same venue with the participation of 128 athletes from 15 clubs nationwide.
The National Canoeing and Rowing Tournament attracted around 220 racers from 27 teams.
Sponsored by the Imexpan Pacific-IPP Company, the tournament offers coaches the chance to evaluate athletes' skills and choose the most outstanding rowers and canoers for the national team, which will compete in several upcoming international events including the 27th Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar.
Fierce competition at 125cc motor race
The fourth round of the 125cc National Racing Championships is taking place in the Central Highland province of Buon Ma Thuot from March 9–12.

The event—organised by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and the Vietnam Cycling Federation (VCF) as part of the 4th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival— attracted racers representing leading clubs from across the country.
Nguyen Thanh Vu’s victory and Nguyen Huynh Luong’s second place gave Duy Thai Racing Boy Club a one-two finish. Ho Chi Minh City’s Thanh Lai Club Rider Nguyen Ba Thanh claimed third, while fourth went to Do Chi Khai from Thao Lan Khanh Club in Vinh Long.
Coal and minerals draw with City
There was nothing to separate the two sides when defending champions Viet Nam Coal and Mineral FC met HCM City in the first leg of the National Women's Football Championship - Thai Son Bac Cup in Ha Nam on Sunday.
Although two teams set out to attack from the first whistle, the game ended 0-0.
On Saturday, Ha Noi 1 defeated Ha Noi 2 3-0.
Today Phong Phu Ha Nam take on Ha Noi 2.
Ha Noi 1 and Phong Phu Ha Nam currently share the table's top berth with three points each.
The annual event, which kicked off on Friday, attracted the participation of six teams.
The first leg of the championship will run until March 26 using a round robin format. The second leg is scheduled from June 9 to 22 at Ha Nam Stadium.
Amateurs to compete in five-a-side tourney
A full 64 teams will compete in a five-a-side football tournament in the central city of Da Nang on April 1-30.
Teams are expected from the central city and Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) region. They will compete in qualifiers on an outdoors artificial turf. The best 16 teams will contest a round-robin in four groups from April 18-30.
The winner will pocket VND10 million (US$5,000). Awards will also be given to the Best Player, Best Team, Top Scorer, Best Goalkeeper and Fair Play.
