Other emerging brands such as Asus, Obi Worldphone and Coolpad that have become well known in the last few years are also in the same situation.
A representative of FPT Shop said the retail chain stopped selling HTC products half a year ago and LG products one year ago.
CellphoneS said: “We have stopped the sale of LG products for one year because the manufacturer doesn’t have any products which can catch buyers’ attention. It also doesn’t carry out many marketing activities.”
Some other mobile phone distributors said LG’s smartphone business in Vietnam is unclear. Big changes in staff occurred with the manufacturer last year. It has not marketed any special products recently.
Earlier this year, LG G5 SE and V20 models were unexpectedly launched on the market, but the products were not distributed by LG Vietnam. It is unclear whether LG G6 will be available in Vietnam.
HTC reportedly is undergoing restructuring of its product range. Nguyen Hong Chau, director of HTC Vietnam, said the manufacturer would not try to sell products, but will focus on high-end and nearly high-end mobile phones.

A representative of Asus Vietnam has told Zing.vn that Asus would strengthen the development of products in all segments. The manufacturer has admitted the severity of the market and the strong rise of Chinese smartphone brands.
Explaining the decision to stop selling the products, Nguyen Viet Anh, deputy CEO of FPT Shop, said retailers will halt sales if brands or products cannot meet requirements and will resume if they can be satisfied.
However, analysts commented that it would be not easy for them to make a comeback.
They said once some players are absent from the market, they will be replaced by others quickly.
Huawei and Vivo are new rising stars in the market. They have good financial capability and spend money on marketing campaigns.
The most advantageous positions on the shelves at mobile phone retail chains are reserved for Apple, Samsung and Oppo.
Privately run shop owners say the sales of red iPhone 7s have not been as high as expected, as consumers say the phone is expensive and the colors disappointing.
