Dam Vinh Hung
The year 2024 saw numerous controversies in Vietnam’s entertainment industry, with Dam Vinh Hung at the center of various scandals and legal battles.
In May, Dam Vinh Hung sparked public outrage by wearing a costume adorned with a controversial emblem during a music event.
The backlash led to a fine of VND 27.5 million in July, alongside a nine-month ban on performances and artistic releases due to violations of cultural and ethical standards.
Dam Vinh Hung issued a public apology and pledged to cooperate in addressing the issue.
In November, the singer became embroiled in a lawsuit with Gerard Williams, the husband of singer Bich Tuyen, in the United States.
The lawsuit followed an accident during a party in February, where Dam Vinh Hung suffered severe injuries, leading to the amputation of several toes.
He filed a lawsuit in California's Superior Court, seeking USD 20 million in damages from Gerard Williams.
On November 29, Dam Vinh Hung publicly addressed the incident, describing it as a devastating experience and expressing willingness to accept any court decision.
By December 4, Gerard Williams confirmed that Dam Vinh Hung had withdrawn the lawsuit, which the singer later announced on social media.
Gerard Williams, however, filed a counter-lawsuit in California's Superior Court in Orange County, seeking a symbolic USD 1 and a public apology.
Rumors also surfaced that Dam Vinh Hung's attempt to withdraw the lawsuit had been rejected by the U.S. court, leaving the case unresolved.
