VietNamNet Bridge – A shell exploded at 8.30am on Friday at a military camp in the central province of Binh Dinh killing two soldiers and injuring three others, according to the Ministry of Defence.

The incident occurred at the Centre for Bomb and Mine Disposal Technology under the Sapper Force in Binh Thanh Commune, Tay Son District. The soldiers were trying to diffuse the shell when it exploded.

The two who died are lieutenant colonel Tran Tuan Khanh, 48, from Thai Binh northern province and major Nguyen Quang Hinh, 48, from Hanoi.

The others injured are captain Nguyen Van Phuong, private first class Nguyen Anh Tuan and private first class Tran Van Lam. They are being treated at the Military Hospital 13 in the province’s Quy Nhon City.

The Ministry of National Defense is investigating the cause of the accident.

The Centre for Bomb and Mine Disposal Technology is located far from residential areas, so, no civilians were harmed.
