Seventy cars rev up for Off-road Cup challenge

The 2015 Viet Nam Off-road Cup, a two day off-road car race, will take place this weekend. Cars will begin and end the race at the Viet Nam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Dong Mo, Son Tay, Ha Noi.

The event, involving nearly 70 cars from across the country, is expected to draw more than 15,000 bystanders along the course and millions of TV viewers.

The organiser of the event says the course will snake through rough terrains, challenging the drivers and encouraging them to take part in social and charitable activities in remote areas and disaster-hit regions.

Football programme for poor children starts in HCM City

A football programme kicked off yesterday (June 30) in HCM City with a three-day intensive training session for social workers and disadvantaged children.

Coaches with the Manchester United Foundation helped local coaches and social workers engage and interact with the children.

The programme aims to offer healthy entertainment for children, said Pham Dinh Nghinh, head of the city's Children's Social Work Centre.

As many as 100 children from public and private social welfare centres in the city are taking part in the event, carried out by the city's Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs in co-operation with the Football Federation and UNICEF.
