VietNamNet Bridge – In response to the direction of the Ministry of Public Security on correcting the operation of traffic police, the Traffic Police Department has established a working group to secretly monitor traffic police officers.

According to the Ministry of Public Security, the arrangement of traffic police officers in some localities is uneven, with so many policemen in one place or being vacant in others. This force did not hold patrols but set up check-points on the highways. As a result, drivers only obey traffic rules on the road where having the checkpoints of traffic police. Especially, many traffic police officers broke the rules.

To deal with the situation, Deputy Minister of Public Security Pham Quy Ngo has instructed relevant agencies to strengthen surveillance measures to detect and correct wrongdoings made by traffic police.

According to Major General Nguyen Van Tuyen, Director of the Road - Railway Traffic Police Agency, the agency has established a working group to secretly monitor and inspect traffic police officers on duty, particularly those who patrol on highways.

Tien Phong Newspaper quoted Tuyen as saying that the police officers who are detected to violate regulations will be punished strictly, even to be fired.

Tuyen also emphasized that the people who detects wrongdoings by traffic police officials are encouraged to call number 069 42608.
