Vietnamese athletes on June 10 finished the day with a flurry of seven gold medals to captivate the home fans and inspire teammates at the ongoing Southeast Asian Games in Singapore.

Four of the medals went to gymnasts – Le Thanh Tung in men’s vault, PhanThi Ha Thanh in women’s beam and Dinh Phuong Thanh in both men’s parallel and horizontal bar events.

In women’s boxing, the two gold medals belonged to Nguyen Thi Yen in flyweight (51kg) and Le Thi Bang in bantam weight (54kg).

In athletics, Nguyen Thi Huyen won a gold medal in the women’s 400m hurdles event.

Vietnam has now amassed a total of 100 medals –40 gold, 19 silver and 41 bronze and ranks third overall in the rankings behind Singapore and Thailand in first and second place respectively.
