The Southeast Asian Games Federation and Thailand, the host nation for SEA Games 33, have announced the sports lineup for the 2025 event.

During a meeting on October 25 in Bangkok, it was revealed that the 33rd SEA Games would feature 44 sports and a total of 567 medal events. While the list of sports and disciplines may still be adjusted, any changes are expected to be minor.

The event lineup includes popular sports such as swimming, diving, water polo, artistic swimming, open water swimming, athletics, archery, badminton, basketball (3x3, 5x5), rowing, canoeing, traditional boat racing, cycling, equestrian sports, fencing, football, futsal, golf, gymnastics, handball, hockey, judo, rugby, sailing, shooting, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, and triathlon.

In addition, the top regional sports event will feature volleyball, wrestling, ice skating, ice hockey, pentathlon, weightlifting, baseball & softball, billiards & snooker, boxing, floorball, e-sports, extreme sports (rock climbing, skateboarding, paragliding), muay thai, netball, pencak silat, pétanque, sepak takraw, squash, bowling, karate, jujitsu, cricket, wushu, kabaddi, teqball, kickboxing, chess, and woodball. The SEA Games 33 will also include demonstration sports like discus throw, tug of war, and air sports.

Compared to previous editions, certain sports in which Vietnam has traditionally excelled, such as Vovinam, diving, aerobic gymnastics, and dance sports, are not on the list. Despite this, sports experts predict that Vietnam will still be competitive in securing top ranks at SEA Games 33.

SEA Games 33 is scheduled to take place in December 2025 across several cities in Thailand, including Bangkok, Chonburi, and Songkhla.
