VietNamNet Bridge – On January 2, flames exploded violently from the Dai Tin Commercial JS Bank’s billboard then spread to the nearby Sony Center on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, Ward 5, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City.




Guard Le Van Hoang of the Sony Center said that at about 2 am, he was asleep in the Sony Center when he suddenly heard people outside beating the door to inform him of the fire. He opened the door to get outside and saw the fire burning the billboards of the Dai Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank.

With the wind, the fire quickly caught to the Sony Center’s billboard. Inside the two-story shop were a lot of electronic and computer equipment, and cameras.

"The fire was burning and the smoke filled the entire store so our trying to put out the fire in the store failed," Mr. Hoang said, adding that before going to sleep, he disconnected all electrical systems in the Sony Center.

The firefighting forces of District 3 extinguished the fire at around 4am. However, the fire destroyed the entire Sony Center and part of the Dai Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank. However, until 6 am, the fire smoldering inside the Sony Center broke out again. The firefighting police had to quickly return to the scene to completely extinguish the fire.

The Sony Center opened in late August 2012, in the Flagship store model which combines a shopping center, a Customer Support Center and a warranty center. This is the first Sony center of this model in the South.

The authorities are to determine the cause and damage.
