Saigon Heat lose to Hi-Tech Bangkok city

Saigon Heat lost to Hi-Tech Bangkok City 75-59 at the 2014 Air Asia ASEAN Basketball League at the Thai-Japanese Stadium in Bangkok yesterday.

With three wins and two losses, Heat was temporarily ranked fourth. Hi-Tech took the lead with four wins.

The Heat will fly back home to play Westports Malaysia Dragons on Saturday at CIS Arena in HCM City.

Hi-Tech will try for their fifth win when they host Laskar Dreya South Sumatra on August 14.

Aces Gaming eSports club opens

The first ever professional and international standard eSports club in Viet Nam, Aces Gaming, was opened on Wednesday in HCM City's Phu Tho Gymnasium.

It marked a new advance for Viet Nam's eSports and for HCM City, said head coach of the national eSports team Duong Vi Khoa.

"Aces Gaming is the first eSports training centre model of the country. The centre will train Vietnamese professional athletes to compete in regional and world events," he said.

Khoa also said he hoped that Aces Gaming would soon open in other locations around Viet Nam.

Players set for Carom tournament

More than 50 players will compete in the third Binh Duong International Three-Cushion Carom Billiards Tournament to be held in southern Binh Duong Province between August 15 and 18, according to Do Van Trung, head of the organising board.

There will be 47 domestic players and five foreign players, including the best players from South Korea and Japan, like Cho Jea-ho, Heo Jung-han, Arai Tasuo and Takeshima O.

Players will compete in a knock-out form through the tournament.

Winners will walk away with total prizes of VND100 million (US$4,800).

"This is a chance for domestic players to hone their skills for the National Sports Games to be held in December and the 28th SEA Games in Singapore next June," said Huynh Van Hiep, tournament's chief referee.
