The Kizuna Ekiden Hanoi 2018 – Run for Traffic Safety is scheduled to start on November 18 around Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi.

The event will attract the participation of more than 1,600 runners from Viet Nam, Japan and other countries.

Kizuna in Japanese means friendship, while Ekiden is relay.

According to the event’s organising board, each member of a four-member team will run a distance of 3.4km in a marathon relay race.

The event will be held annually with the aim of providing traffic safety knowledge, skills and abilities, and protecting children from traffic accidents.

It is also part of activities to mark the 45th anniversary of Viet Nam-Japan diplomatic ties. — VNS
