VietNamNet Bridge – The Viet Nam Register has asked Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang to stop stamps for road use fee for automobiles and collect such a fee through inspection stamps.

This proposal will be treated favourably by people and also save funding for agencies who organise fee collection.

Since the beginning of the implementation of road use charge per vehicle, many vehicle owners have not taken the obligation to pay the fee seriously.

When it come to new inspections, they neither have to pay a penalty with the arrears, nor do they pay any additional charges. This has created problems among those who pay their fee on time.

To control the payment of vehicles, inspection centres can check whether a vehicle has paid the fee or not, or when they have to pay. Based on the data from the Viet Nam Register Department, inspection centres will determine the next payment of vehicles which is not based on stamps for road user fees.

Tran Ky Hinh, director general of the Viet Nam Register, said that if car owners have paid in advance from the 13th month to the 24th month, they would enjoy 8 per cent deduction and a 15 per cent reduction if the fee is paid in advance from the 25th month onwards.

Besides, the department also provides solutions to deal with vehicle owners who delay payments.

Accordingly, vehicle owners will have to pay more for late payment with the fee depending on the number of months they have delayed.

Vehicle owners wishing to confirm whether the vehicle has paid the fee or not, can check the back of the inspection stamp. They can also contact inspection centres or access the website of the Viet Nam Register (www.vr.org.vn) to refer to the inspection period as well as the deadline for fee payment.
