To mark the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s reunification, the Vietnam Railways Corporation (VRC) will operate two specially designed trains named “Reunification Train,” evoking the spirit of a historic milestone.
A VRC representative announced that, in celebration of this landmark occasion, the railway sector will organize various meaningful activities both on board and at stations.
In particular, a pair of uniquely themed trains, SE1 departing from Hanoi Station and SE4 from Saigon Station, will be launched under the name “Reunification Train.” These two trains will symbolically meet at noon on April 30 at Da Nang Station.
The initiative aims to offer passengers a memorable and meaningful travel experience during the national holiday. At the departure ceremonies on the evening of April 29, passengers will also receive surprise gifts from the railway sector.
In addition, Vietnam Railways is offering a 40% discount on tickets to people who rendered meritorious service to the revolution, including war veterans, wounded soldiers, former resistance fighters, and relatives of fallen heroes.
The promotion applies to tickets purchased for travel between April 24 and May 9. Eligible passengers must present valid documentation when purchasing tickets and boarding the train. Tickets will be available at railway station counters.
Vietnam Railways also announced that in addition to the five daily pairs of North–South Reunification trains, two additional SE9 trains will run on April 29 and 30 from Hanoi to Saigon.
On the Hanoi–Hai Phong route, beyond the regular four daily pairs, trains LP10 and HP4 will depart from Hai Phong Station, and train HD2 from Hai Duong Station between May 2 and 4.
For central destinations, more services will be added: four additional Saigon–Da Nang trips, eight for the Saigon–Quy Nhon leg, six Saigon–Nha Trang journeys, two Saigon–Phan Thiet trips, two Hanoi–Da Nang trains, and four for the Hanoi–Dong Hoi route.
A special highlight of this campaign is a digital tribute: until the end of the holiday, each successful ticket purchase will add a virtual red flag with a yellow star to the online booking system - contributing to a symbolic "Reunification Train" in cyberspace.
