VietNamNet Bridge – The 9th International Physics Science Conference themed ‘Meet Vietnam’ opened on July 28 in Quy Nhon City in the central province of Binh Dinh.

About 80 Vietnamese and international scientists are attending the conference, including American physicist Jack Steinberger, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics 1988. Nobel Laureates in 2006, 2004, 1979 and 1985 are George Smoot, David J.Gross, Sheldon Lee Glashow and Klaus Von Klitzing.
Professor Rolf-Dieter Heuer, German particle physicist and the Director General of CERN since 2009 and Prof. Ngo Bao Chau who was awarded the 2010 Fields Medal at the 26th International Congress of Mathematicians are Guests of Honor at the conference.
The event is part of many activities marking the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and France, and the 20th anniversary of the conference which was held for the first time in 1993.
On the occasion, the event’s organizer, Meeting Vietnam Organization, will inaugurate the International Center of Interdisciplinary Science Education (ICISE) in Quy Nhon City.
The center will focus on enhancing scientific knowledge and developing a close network of international cooperation for scientific research and education in Vietnam.
The International Physics Science Conference will be on until August 17.
