The conflict between the Miss Grand International (MGI) organization and Miss Grand Cambodia erupted on the evening of October 6. MGI President Nawat accused the Cambodian organizers of mismanagement, which led to the event being moved to Thailand.
Nawat expressed his concerns about the lack of proper reception from the local staff and the underwhelming arrangements, such as the red carpet and cultural performances. Despite the additional costs of flight and hotel arrangements for the contestants in Thailand, Nawat accepted the change to maintain the brand’s reputation, ultimately canceling Cambodia's hosting rights.
In response, the Cambodian side held a press conference, attended by Sokunthea Im, the national director of Miss Grand Cambodia, and Miss Grand Cambodia 2024, Sotheary Bee. Sokunthea refuted Nawat’s claims, stating that there had been a series of misunderstandings that led to the fallout. Sotheary Bee subsequently withdrew from the competition.
Speaking with VietnamNet, Vo Le Que Anh, the representative from Vietnam at Miss Grand International 2024, shared her thoughts on the events that unfolded in both Cambodia and Thailand.
Que Anh explained that she did not encounter any difficulties regarding accommodations or meals in Cambodia, attributing this to her easygoing nature.
When asked about the conflict between MGI and Miss Grand Cambodia, Que Anh mentioned that the organizers had initially informed the contestants about the competition taking place in both countries. While there was some confusion, the contestants quickly packed their essentials and moved to Thailand, leaving the rest of their luggage to be sent later. Que Anh expressed her relief that everything went smoothly.

She emphasized that the MGI organization had been diligent in managing the contestants, ensuring that she faced no obstacles during the competition.
When asked about reports of contestants withdrawing due to the venue change, Que Anh confirmed that while one participant faced difficulties and withdrew, the remaining contestants adapted well to the new schedule without major issues.
Que Anh noted that her biggest challenge was striving to improve on her previous performances. She expressed admiration for her fellow contestants, praising their strengths, beauty, and remarkable talents.
