This is part of Quang Ninh’s planning for the 2021-2030 period with a vision until 2050 approved by the prime minister.
Under the plan, Quang Ninh will strive to be a model locality and a dynamic economic hub in the northern region. It will also become an international tourism maritime-based economic centre and a gateway of the northern key economic region and country.
The province has aimed to obtain a gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth of 10 percent between 2021 and 2030. Among those, the agro, forestry and fishery sector would have an increase of 3-4 percent, construction 47-48 percent and services 38-39 percent.
The province’s GDP per capita is expected to reach USD19,000-20,000 by 2030.
The province plans to have 13 administrative units with 13 urban areas in 2025 by 2030. By this time, the locality will become a centrally-run city with Ha Long, Cam Pha, Uong Bi, Mong Cai-Hai Ha, Dong Trieu, Quang Yen and Van Don as cities. The total population of the province is projected to be about 2.64 million by 2030.
According to Ha Long City’s general planning by 2040 recently approved by the prime minister, Ha Long city would be Quang Ninh’s political, administrative, economic and cultural centre, while Cua Luc Bay will be developed into a centre of connectivity for the expansion of urban areas northwards.
