It is forecast that from now to the year end, Vietnam will have two to three storms

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has made public the storm and sea level map of the coastal region of Vietnam, with five regions.

The area from Quang Ninh to Thanh Hoa has to face the highest number of storms compared to other regions. Storms have also entered this area early. The stormy season is from June to August. The highest rainfall/day recorded in this area was over 470 mm and the strongest storm reached level 16 - the highest grade in the history of the meteorological sector. Also in this area, the highest sea level caused by a storm was up to 3.5 m.

Meanwhile, the area from Nghe An to Thua Thien-Hue in central Vietnam is severely affected by storms and rains. Storms usually appear from August to October. The highest rainfall ever in this area was up to 790 mm/day - the highest in the history of the hydro-meteorological sector of Vietnam.

The region from Da Nang to Binh Dinh, in central Vietnam, has fewer storms and the stormy season falls in October and November.

The two remaining areas – from Phu Yen to Khanh Hoa and from Ninh Thuan to Ca Mau – suffer the least number of storms compared to other regions.

The map is considered an important basis for local authorities and people to actively prevent and reduce storm damage.

Meteorological experts said that from now to the year-end Vietnam will have to face two to three storms that may be very strong and develop in a complicated way.
