VietNamNet Bridge - In order to collect documents and objects on Vietnam’s maritime sovereignty, Quang Ngai province recently announced a hotline to receive information on this issue from the local people.
The valuable ancient document of the Dang family.
The province’s Chairman--Cao Khoa, has directed the Department of Information & Communication and the relevant agencies to make public a free telephone number - 18001771 - for people to provide information about materials and artifacts related to maritime sovereignty.
Previously, in April 4, the Dang famil in An Hai commune (Ly Son Island, Quang Ngai), donated a valuable ancient order related to Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This document was preserved by this family through six generations. This is the order of Quang Ngai mandarins granted to Mr. Dang Van Siem and Mr. Duong Van Dinh, dated April 15, 1834. Siem and Dinh were assigned to lead three boats to guard the Paracels. The order includes four pages and this is the most intact ancient document so far.
In April 2012, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs awarded a certificate of merit for the Dang family. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also presented a certificate of merit for this family for donating precious ancient document relating to Vietnam's sovereignty in the Paracels.
Quang Ngai province also rewarded this family for preservation of historical documents and at the same time called for local people to follow Dang family’s example to preserve precious materials related to national sovereignty over the two archipelagoes of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa (Spratly).
