As thousands of officers and soldiers undergo intense training at the Military Parade Command Center in An Phuoc Commune, Long Thanh District, Dong Nai, one young Gia Rai officer, Rơ Lan Hưng, is striving to earn his place in the historic parade marking 50 years of Vietnam’s reunification.
Honored to be part of the parade

At just 20 years old, Rơ Lan Hưng, a member of Ho Chi Minh City’s Police Officer Contingent, carries a deep sense of pride and responsibility. Born and raised in Gia Lai, he grew up watching his parents serve in law enforcement, shaping his dream of following in their footsteps.
“Every time I saw my parents in uniform, I felt a deep sense of pride and wanted to carry on their legacy,” Hưng shared.
His hard work and dedication paid off when he was selected to join the national parade formation, an honor that left him both emotional and determined.
“This is not just a personal achievement but a moment of pride for my family and my community,” he said.
Training under extreme conditions

From early morning until late evening, Hưng and his fellow officers endure intensive drills under the scorching 36°C heat and sudden downpours. Each movement is repeated countless times to achieve precision and synchronization.
Alongside parade formations, the officers undergo strength and endurance training to ensure their unwavering composure throughout the grand event.
“The pressure is high, but it only pushes us to strive harder. Our goal is to deliver a flawless performance on this historic day,” Hưng affirmed.
Family as a source of strength

During rare breaks, Hưng finds himself thinking of his family in Gia Lai. His father’s words serve as constant motivation:
"Every step you take in the parade represents not just yourself, but also your family and the Gia Rai people."
For Hưng, this moment is more than just a ceremony - it is a personal milestone, a tribute to his family’s legacy, and a way to honor his ethnic heritage.
“My entire village is excited to see a Gia Rai officer participating in such an important national event. I hope our efforts will make them proud,” he shared.
Despite exhaustion, the camaraderie among fellow officers keeps morale high. A joke or a word of encouragement is often enough to help them power through the toughest drills.
A promising young officer

As the milestone parade draws closer, Hưng and his team are training harder than ever.
Captain Bui Van Dung, a training officer for the Ho Chi Minh City Police Contingent, commended Hưng’s determination:
“To achieve perfect synchronization, each officer must train for hours in harsh conditions. Hưng is a prime example of perseverance and dedication.”
With every disciplined step he takes, Rơ Lan Hưng is not just preparing for a parade - he is making history.
