Employment service provider Adecco Vietnam has forecast recruitment demand will rise sharply in manufacturing, marketing, information technology and real estate sectors this year as these sectors are growing but falling short of labor.
Companies are in dire need of engineers for their factories and information technology projects, according to a report released by Adecco Vietnam. This point is similar to the projections by other job service firms like VietnamWorks, Navigos Search and Talentnet.
Adecco said companies in construction, accounting-finance, healthcare, insurance and energy are expected to increase employment this year. However, supply in some of these sectors is currently smaller than demand.
Representatives of 30 companies in need of more employees shared their difficulties in recruiting executives in Vietnam at a seminar held by Adecco on Tuesday.
Nicola Connolly, general director of Adecco Vietnam, said the country’s labor supply is abundant but it is tough for enterprises to find suitable employees.
Data of Adecco showed that 62% of operational businesses in Vietnam find it hard to recruit qualified candidates while the proportion is only 8% in Singapore. Like many other countries, Vietnamese aged 25 to 28 job-hop more often than seniors for wage reasons.
Adecco forecast salaries offered by companies in Vietnam would increase 5-10% this year against last year, mainly for good employees.
Connolly warned that after the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) is established later this year, Vietnamese would face tougher competition, especially doctors, nurses, teachers, IT engineers and executives, as labor can freely flow within the region.
Headquartered in Switzerland’s Zurich, Adecco Group is one of the world’s leading companies providing human resources services.
Adecco Vietnam was set up in October 2011 to provide employment services for different sectors.
