VietNamNet Bridge – Six K54 pistols at Thanh Phong Prison in the central province of Thanh Hoa are missing, and believed to have been stolen.

The incident occurred on Friday evening 25, at a staff office of Thanh Phong Prison in Nong Cong District. Thanh Hoa police were immediately summoned to investigate the theft.

This prison is under the management of the Ministry of Public Security and it is strictly protected. At the time the prison lost pistols, there was no escape of prisoners, nor any such attempt.

On Monday morning, Colonel Tran Van Thuc, Chief of the Office of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Agency, said that Thanh Hoa police and experts from the Ministry of Public Security were investigating the incident, which is considered the most serious case of its kind in Thanh Hoa for many years.

Meanwhile Mr. Do Quang Thao, Director of the prison, declined to comment on the incident.
