VietNamNet Bridge - Nam Dinh City Police on August 5 arrested Dang Van Hai, 24, residing in My Loc district, Nam Dinh city, after this man attacked five people in a family with acid on August 3.

At about 7pm on August 3, Hai wore a shirt with long sleeves, mask and a helmet, carried a can of acid and ran into the house of Mr. Le Minh Dai, 38, on Dien Bien Road, Nam Dinh city, and threw acid at five people who were having dinner, including Dai, his wife, his two small daughters and his mother.

After that Hai ran away, he was chased and seized by Dai’s wife - Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, 35 and Dai’s mother, Mrs. Le Thi Ly, 60, who handed over the suspect to the police.

Hai confessed that he liked Dai’s daughter Le Quynh Trang, 10, when he worked for Dai’s electronic appliance repairing shop several years ago. After that, Hai often texted to flirt with the little girl.

However, Trang showed the messages to her grandmother so everyone in the family knew about the story and Dai told Hai to stop flirting with his daughter. Hai did not stop flirting so Dai fired him.

After being fired, Hai repeatedly returned to the shop to ask Dai’s permission to return but Dai did not allowed, so Hai worked for another electronic appliance repair shop near Dai’s shop.

At the same time, Dai intended revenge, so in July 2013, Hai bought a can of 10 liters of concentrated acid. On August 3, walking through Dai’s house, Hai saw the family was having dinner together so he took the can of acid to attack them.

All five victims were injured. Dai is now treated in the Central Eye Hospital in Hanoi because his eyes may be blind by acid.

The two children, Trang – 10 and Quynh Anh – 6, are seriously injured and they are also treated at the National Burn Hospital. Dai’s wife and mother were also at the National Burn Hospital in Hanoi, with less dangerous wounds.

According to the doctors, it will take a very long time to deal with the consequences of acid burns to the kids because the young victims are not only harmed in the health, aesthetics but also their soul.
