VietNamNet Bridge – In the afternoon of January 23 (the Kitchen God’s Festival), Vietnam President Truong Tan Sang and overseas Vietnamese released carb and birds at the Tran Quoc, the oldest pagoda in Hanoi.
President Truong Tan Sang and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs - Chairman of the State Committee of Overseas Vietnamese Affairs – Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son, and representatives of overseas Vietnamese visited Tran Quoc Pagoda yesterday afternoon.
The President wrote some lines on the visitors’ book after making a tour around the pagoda.
On this occasion, Venerable Thich Thanh Nha presented the President a pair of parallel sentences.
The President and his wife released carp to the West Lake.
They also released birds to wish for peace and luck.
After the spiritual rites, the President and the delegation left the pagoda to the Thang Long Royal Citadel, where a gala dinner for overseas Vietnamese was held in the same evening.

The President met with a ceramics artisan from Bat Trang Village – Mr. Tran Do. On this occasion, the famous artisan presented his products to the president.
