President Truong Tan Sang met bilaterally with leaders of Chile, Peru, Brunei, Australia and Thailand on the margins of the 22nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Beijing, China on November 10.

The President and his Chilean counterpart Michele Bachelet agreed to facilitate visits at all levels for stronger economic-trade and investment cooperation, especially since the Vietnam-Chile free trade agreement took effect this January.

In another encounter, the Vietnamese leader and Peruvian President Ollanta Humala were committed to tapping a number of cooperative potentials, ranging from agriculture, fisheries, mining, science-technology, culture to education.

He and King of Brunei Haji Hassanal Bolkiah said they are satisfied with the progress of the coordination between the two nations, particularly in farming and foodstuff.

Meeting Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, President Truong Tan Sang promised all possible support for Australian investors in Vietnam, with a focus on mining, light industry and services.

Australia continues seeing Vietnam as one of its key partners in the Asia-Pacific, Abbott assured the State leader.

Both sides consented to further deepen the bilateral strategic partnership and work closely together at multilateral forums and mechanisms such as the East Asia Summit and the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

In a conversation with the President, Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha shared expectations to enhance all-round friendship and collaboration with Vietnam, saying that it is in line with the bilateral strategic partnership.
