Statement of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping:
General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, President of the People's Republic of China
At Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi, Vietnam
April 14, 2025
I am very pleased to begin my fourth state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and President of Vietnam Luong Cuong.
I send warm greetings and best wishes from the Communist Party of China, the Government of China, and the Chinese people to the Government of Vietnam and the people of Vietnam.
This year marks the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam), and the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South. The Communist Party of Vietnam is gathering and leading the Vietnamese people toward the two centenary goals of the Party and the country. Vietnam is achieving steady increases in people's living standards, greater international and regional influence, and encouraging results in the process of socialist industrialization and modernization. The Chinese side is truly pleased to witness all of this.
I believe that under the strong leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam headed by To Lam, Vietnam will certainly advance along the socialist path suited to the country's conditions, fulfill all the tasks set at the 13th National Party Congress, prepare successfully for the 14th National Party Congress, and create new progress in the cause of the Party and the country.
China and Vietnam are two neighboring socialist countries, with mountains and rivers adjacent. In the arduous struggle for independence and national liberation, the two sides fought shoulder to shoulder, supported each other, and formed a “deep friendship not only between two brothers but also between two comrades.”
In the process of searching for a socialist path suited to the country's conditions, our two sides have learned from each other and advanced together, demonstrating to the world the bright prospects of the socialist system. During my state visit to Vietnam in 2023, the two sides declared that we would build a China–Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance. That decision brought the relationship between our two Parties and countries into a new stage.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of China–Vietnam diplomatic relations and the China–Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchange. Standing at this new starting point, China is ready to cooperate with Vietnam to always cherish the long-standing friendship and common mission, seize the opportunity of the era, implement cooperation at higher standards, in more fields, and with greater depth, bringing more benefits to the peoples of the two countries, to the region, and to the world in general.
During this visit, I will exchange extensively with Vietnamese leaders on overarching and strategic issues concerning the direction of relations between our two Parties and two countries, and on international and regional issues of shared concern.
Wishing Vietnam prosperity, wishing the Vietnamese people happiness! Wishing the traditional friendship between China and Vietnam to be passed down from generation to generation, and the China–Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance to achieve new and greater progress!
