Mr. Trinh Dinh Chinh, Deputy Director of the Southeastern Power Transmission Company said a crane broke the 500 KV transmission line in Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong Province. This is the power transmission line from Binh Duong to Tan Dinh transformer station in HCM City, which supplies power for the entire southern region.

It is reported that at about 1.40pm, driver Ngo Tan Thao controlled a crane in a nursery in Thu Dau Mot City where the 500 KV transmission line is running through.

The crane hit the transmission line, causing a loud bang. The whole area lost power immediately. The power was transmitted to the crane, making the front wheels blast.

By 3pm, some areas in HCM City had electricity, such as Binh Thanh District and District 1. The Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) is dealing with the incident in order to resume power supply to the entire southern region tonight.

Some power plants in the south have also operated again.
