The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) has recently published a review of the poverty situation in Việt Nam in 2023.
Vietnam is among 25 countries that have successfully halved multidimensional poverty within 15 years, according to the latest report by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The Northwestern mountainous region has the highest number of poor and near-poor households in Vietnam, which account for more than half of its total households, according to preliminary outcomes of a recent survey.
The Prime Minister has issued a multi-dimensional poverty index (MPI) for the 2016-2020 period that identifies indicators to define poor, near-poor and middle-income households in urban and rural areas.
