The Sandinista National Liberation Front Party of Nicaragua (FSLN) expects to reinforce cooperation at both central and local levels with Vietnam, Deputy Secretary of the FSLN’s International Relations Department Carlos Fonseca Teran has said.
Meeting with Vice Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Vo Van Thuong on July 7, Carlos Teran said FSLN and Nicaraguan people also want to learn from Vietnam’s socialist building process.
Thuong, for his part, welcomed his guest’s visit, saying that it holds great significance as both countries are gearing up for the 35th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.
He thanked Nicaragua for its support to Vietnam during the national liberation and development, especially to the country’s stance on the current East Sea issue.
The host said the exchange of delegations will move bilateral coordination forward.
The municipal Party Committee will make concerted push to relations between the two Parties, Thuong vowed.
Vietnam ready to help Laos train inspectors
Vietnam stands ready to assist Laos in training inspectors, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung told visiting Lao President of the Government Inspection Authority Bounthong Chitmani in Hanoi on July 7.
Dung assured Bounthong, who is also Secretary of the Lao Party Central Committee and head of its Commission for Inspection, that the government of Vietnam always facilitates cooperation between the two inspectorates.
Inspection not only helps uncover negative occurrences but strengthen the State management also, the Vietnamese leader stressed.
He expects for more visits by the two government inspectorates to forge their productive links.
Bounthong informed his host of the outcomes of his visit, including the sharing of experience in inspection, the settlement of complaints and denunciations, and anti-corruption work.
Laos also wants to learn from Vietnam’s experience in socio-economic development, he said, vowing that his authority will work closely with the Vietnamese counterpart.
At a reception for Bounthong, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and head of its Commission for Inspection Ngo Van Du welcomed his guest’s visit, saying that it presents both sides a chance to learn from respective professional experience and set forth major tasks for the coming time.
President consoles helicopter crash victims
President Truong Tan Sang on July 7 visited survivors of a helicopter crash in Hanoi’s outlying district of Thach That, who are receiving intensive care at the National Burns Institute.
The soldiers survived the tragedy, but currently are in critical condition, slipping into a coma and suffering multiple injuries.
They are suffering from severe burns covering as much as between 50-70% of their total body surface area.
The State President asked doctors to try as much as they can to save the soldiers.
A Russian-built Mi-171 helicopter carrying a total of 21 soldiers on a parachute training mission crashed in Thach That commune at around 07.30am.
Sixteen soldiers were confirmed dead at the scene, and five others were seriously injured.
The injured were taken to military hospitals nearby for emergency treatment, and three died shortly after that.
Authorities launched an inquiry to identify the cause of the crash. Initial investigations show technical faults were to blame for the tragedy.
Lao military delegation visits Hanoi
A delegation from the Military Command of the Lao capital city of Vientiane on July 6 paid a working visit to Hanoi to promote military cooperation.
Working with the Vientiane delegation, Commander of Hanoi capital High Command Phi Quoc Tuan expressed hope that the friendship and close-knit relationship between Vietnam and Laos will be further consolidated through exchange visits.
Maj. Gen. Khamhom Sengbualon, the Vientiane delegation’s head affirmed his nation’s willingness to supports Vietnam across variety of fields in the international arena aiming to boost bilateral relations.
The Vietnamese military official also briefed his Lao guests on latest developments on the East Sea after China illegally placed its oil rig Haiyng Shiyou-981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.
“The Vietnamese Government and people vehemently denounced this wrongful act, which goes against international law. Vietnam has been using peaceful measures to request China to withdraw its rig and escort ships from Vietnam’s waters.”, Tuan said.
