VietNamNet Bridge – Party Politburo member Dinh The Huynh visited the Academy of Journalism and Communication, Hanoi Radio and Television, the Communist Review and the Radio Voice of Vietnam on June 19.

The visits took place in the lead up to the 88th anniversary of Vietnam’s Revolutionary Press Day (June 21).

During his visit to the Academy of Journalism and Communication (AJC) - the training ground for Party and State press and communication officials – Huynh, who is also the Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education, praised the contributions AJC officials and lecturers have made to the country’s revolutionary press.

The Party official stressed that the AJC needs to focus on improving the quality of its teaching and learning by applying new teaching methods and curriculums. He also stressed the need to build a contingent of staff and lecturers with firm political ideology and good professional skills in order to develop the academy into a top national centre for training personnel in political ideology, the press, communication, social sciences and the humanities.

During the visits to media agencies, Huynh congratulated them, as well as generations of Vietnamese journalists nationwide, for their significant contributions to national construction and development.

He highlighted the efforts of domestic media agencies to provide timely information on Party guidelines and State policies, saying that the press is a main information channel and forum of the people, reflecting their desires and creativity.

He said that press agencies should step up communication on national sovereignty to boost socio-economic development and national industrialization and modernization, and intensify the dissemination of foreign-related information to help international friends gain a better understanding of Vietnamese culture and people.

Media agencies must also be staffed by journalists with a sound political ideology, professional ethics and expertise in their work, Huynh added.
