On the morning of April 4, authorities from Cu Ewi Commune (Cu Kuin District, Dak Lak Province) confirmed that they had successfully coordinated with local residents to rescue a young boy who had fallen asleep atop a 6-meter-high mango tree.
According to initial reports, around 4:15 p.m. on April 3, nine-year-old K., a second-grade student at Be Van Dan Primary School in Cu Ewi, returned home from school and went out to play in the garden with friends.
By 5:00 p.m., his parents returned home from work and could not find him. After searching with the help of relatives and neighbors to no avail, the family contacted the Cu Ewi Commune Police for assistance.
After nearly six hours of intensive searching across multiple locations, at around 11:00 p.m., police and local residents finally spotted the boy lying asleep at the top of a mango tree in the family’s garden - roughly six meters above ground.
Authorities noted that there were numerous electrical wires running below the location where the child was found. As a precaution, they cut the power in the area before attempting the rescue. One police officer carefully climbed the tree to assess the situation.
To avoid startling the boy and risking a fall, the officer moved with extreme caution, taking about two minutes to reach the sleeping child.
Upon reaching him, the officer checked his vital signs and confirmed that the boy was warm and still breathing. He then gently carried the child down, with help from nearby residents, safely returning him to the ground.
