VietNamNet Bridge - Colonel Dinh Manh Toan, Deputy Chief of the Police Agency of Social Order Administration, has admitted to make a slip of the tongue and would like to learn from experience.

According to Nha Bao va Cong Luan (Journalists and the Public) newspaper, in a meeting with leaders of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association recently, Toan explained more about his statement that stirred up the public in March.

Toan said he made a slip of the tongue and he did not mean to offend journalists. He would like sympathy from the media and the public. Through this incident he would like to learn from experience.

Mr. Ha Minh Hue, Deputy Chair of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, welcomed Toan’s attitude, despite it was late. He said: "As a media management agency that protects the legitimate practice of journalists, we recognize the attitude of Mr. Toan and we hope to have no repetition anywhere and this is also the end of the case."

Earlier on March 11, at the conference to discuss a draft decree on administrative violations in the field of road and railways transportation at the Ministry of Transport, Colonel Dinh Manh Toan spoke heavy words, criticizing the media of making wrong reports on the regulations on helmet use. He even said that reporters were "disabled" when giving information.
