Between March 2 and March 8, a series of leadership appointments were made across Vietnam, with new officials taking on key positions in ministries, government agencies, and provincial administrations.

Key provincial leadership changes

On March 3, the Party Committee of Ha Nam elected Truong Quoc Huy, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Ha Nam People’s Committee, as the new Secretary of the Ha Nam Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term. He replaces Le Thi Thuy, who has been appointed as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Government.

Two days later, the Politburo officially approved Huy’s appointment and assigned him to the Party Committee of Military Region 3 for the same term.

On March 4, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh appointed Pham Manh Cuong, Director of the Agriculture Department at the Government Office, as Deputy Chief of the Government Office. He also reappointed Chu Hoang Ha as Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.

The Prime Minister approved several new provincial leadership appointments, including:

Ho Chi Minh City: Nguyen Van Duoc, Central Party Committee member and Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, was confirmed as Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee (2021-2026 term). Meanwhile, Phan Van Mai was relieved of the position to take on a new assignment.

Nghe An: Phung Thanh Vinh, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, was appointed Vice Chairman of the Nghe An People’s Committee (2021-2026 term).

Thai Nguyen: Nguyen Thi Loan, Secretary of Phu Binh District Party Committee, and Nguyen Linh, Deputy Secretary of Thai Nguyen City Party Committee and Chairman of Thai Nguyen City People’s Committee, were both appointed Vice Chairpersons of the Thai Nguyen People’s Committee.

Lao Cai: Nguyen Thanh Sinh, Chief Inspector of Lao Cai Province, was appointed Vice Chairman of the Lao Cai People’s Committee.

Lam Dong: Pham S, Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong People’s Committee, was relieved of his position to retire.

Binh Duong: Bui Minh Tri, Secretary of Tan Uyen City Party Committee, was appointed Vice Chairman of the Binh Duong People’s Committee. Meanwhile, Mai Hung Dung was relieved of his position as Vice Chairman.

Binh Thuan: Do Huu Huy, Deputy Secretary of the Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee, was appointed Chairman of the Binh Thuan People’s Committee, replacing Doan Anh Dung, who was relieved of his position.

National Assembly Standing Committee resolutions on personnel changes

The National Assembly Standing Committee also approved several personnel changes:

Nguyen Tuan Anh, Deputy Secretary of the Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee and National Assembly deputy from Long An, was transferred to the Hau Giang delegation.

Bui Van Nghiem was relieved of his position as Head of the Vinh Long National Assembly delegation (15th term) due to a job reassignment.

Tran Manh Dung, Vice Chairman of the Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Council, was relieved of his position for a new assignment.

Nguyen Hong Son, Secretary of Duong Minh Chau District Party Committee and Chairman of Duong Minh Chau District People’s Council, was appointed Vice Chairman of the Tay Ninh Provincial People’s Council.

Nguyen Thanh Dong, Vice Chairman of the Can Tho City People’s Council, was relieved of his position upon retirement.

Tran Quoc Vu, Secretary of Binh Thuy District Party Committee and Chairman of Binh Thuy District People’s Council, was appointed Vice Chairman of the Can Tho City People’s Council.
