VietNamNet Bridge – Many beautiful trees in the park of Gia Dinh, which is considered HCM City’s green lung, are being chopped down to make way for construction of a 14-km road connecting Tan Son Nhat Airport and Highway 1.
On January 20, a number of trees in Gia Dinh Park were cut down for
the Tan Son Nhat - Binh Loi - outer belt route, which is named Pham Van
Dong. The 14-km road will pass through the four districts of Tan Binh,
Go Vap, Binh Thanh and Thu Duc.
Many trees along the route have been cut down.
Gia Dinh Park is called the green lung of the three districts of Tan
Binh, Phu Nhuan and Go Vap as well as the entire city. The park covers
about 32 hectares, with more than 1,000 trees and 63,000 m2 of grass.
The new road will cross a 650m long, 20m wide section in Gia Dinh Park.
