Quarter 2 and 3 and some other neighborhoods of Ward 12 have long been known as "ghost city" because a dozen years ago, this area was a large cemetery. Although the cemetery was cleared, many graves are still here, even inside houses.

There are graves located in front of or lying beside many houses. Drilling wells are not very far from graves.

Local people said they have been using water from these drilling wells since 1988.

Mr. Trinh Xuan Hai, a resident in Quarter 2, said there are nearly 1,000 households in this area who have been using water from such drilling wells for 20 years. However, they only dare to use water for washing and cleaning.

Many people, especially kids, get skin diseases because of water.

They have to buy safe water for drinking. The price for a 20l can is VND3,000.

For them, water is very precious since they don’t know when they will have access to tap water.
