VietNamNet Bridge – The terraced fields of Lao Cai Province’s Bat Xat District are full of water from the surrounding high mountains and farmers have begun planting, offering some spectacular scenes of rural Vietnam.

The annual planting season in Bat Xat, which starts in the fourth month of the lunar year, relies on the weather because the famers have no irrigation, just the run-off from the mountains, captured by their terraces.

Y Ty Commune owns most of terraces in Bat Xat District. From Y Ty, visitors can also explore terrace fields at other communes of Bat Xat, such as Den Sang, Ngai Thau.
