VietNamNet Bridge – The Performing Arts Agency has released a decision on licensing 21 more songs of famous songwriter Pham Duy in Vietnam.

The 21 songs include: My Mother, Beautiful Mother, Mother’s Expectation, Mother Paddy, Falling Tears, What Will Bring to the World of the Dead, Sad Street, Singing in the Lo River, Long Trip, Warm Spring, Sea Song, I Sing, Love Lullaby, Impermanent Nostalgia, Love through SMS. In particular, there are two songs composed in 1947, Border Bridge and Soldier’s Winter.

In addition, there are four songs were set to music by Pham Duy, words by Nguyen Tat Nhien: I Pray God, The Small Northern Girl, You Are Gentle Like a Masoeur, Rather Be Raindrops Falling on Stone Statues.

Composer Pham Duy is 93 years old. He has just been through an illness and his health is weakened very quickly. His greatest desire now is that more songs are licensed for circulation in Vietnam.

He once said: "I have many songs in praise of love for the country, celebrating human love and meditation songs that help the listener’s soul serene. I hope to have more songs coming to the audience in the country, not just the songs that are so familiar."

Pham Duy submitted an application to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for a license. On November 2, Deputy Minister Vuong Duy Bien visited the senior composer and told him that the Ministry was evaluating his songs for granting a license. After 20 days of waiting, the talented musician’s wish has been satisfied.

According to the Performing Arts Agency, many other songs by composer Pham Duy are being considered for licence.
