Update news per capita income
The average monthly income of employees in the first quarter was VND 7 million, an increase of VND 197,000 compared to the previous quarter and an increase of VND 640,000 over the same period last year.
The report, released on Tuesday, also showed that the average monthly income for workers in all three economic sectors grew.
Vietnam is forecast to have around 48 million people, nearly half of the population, whose daily income would hit over US$20 by 2030 (in 2011 purchasing power parity, or PPP).
Vietnam’s GDP per capita, calculated in accordance with current prices, has increased year after year. However, the figure is lower than other regional countries.
For the majority of Vietnamese, 2013 is a difficult year when they have to cut down expenses to exist. Meanwhile, the General Statistics Office (GSO) at the end of the year reported an impressive increase in the income per capita.
