VietNamNet Bridge – HCM City-based band Parasite shook off another five bands in the final round of the national rock contest, Tiger Translate – Battle of the Bands on Saturday to win the chance of sharing the stage with the acclaimed Lacuna Coil from Milan, Italy later this month.

With an alternative/gothic metal style, the six-member band won over the jury with their own alluring, ebullient compositions.

With the Vietnamese name Ky Sinh, Parasite was formed in 2011 under the guidance of female vocalist Quynh Anh. It will perform live on stage with Lacuna Coil on July 20 in HCM City.

The bands in the final included 18+, Dong Do, Bui Gio, Hac San and Hemelians, who topped a total 42 entries from across the country.

Formed in 1994, Lacuna Coil was inspired by the combination of gothic imagery and music. Its members are known musically for composing mid-tempo songs with prominent guitar riffs and contrasting dual female/male harmonies to help create a melodic, detached sound.
