The event saw the presence of Politburo member, Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communication and Education Vo Van Thuong.
Addressing the event, Politburo member Thuong affirmed that fine arts have significantly contributed to the development ofspiritual life and aesthetic environment of society, and the Party and State always appreciate and pay much deserved attention to Vietnamese fine arts.
He asked the association to review its achievements as well as analyse its limitations and shortcomings over the past tenure to draw experience and develop appropriate tasks and solutions in the coming tenure.
The VFAA’s members should also uphold their responsibilitiesto develop the country’s fine arts, increasing its position in not only the region but also the world, added the Politburo member.
He also noted that the association needs to further improve the quality of professional activities and create favourable conditions for its members to make many art works with high ideological and artistic values.
Politburo member Thuong emphasised the strong investment in applied arts, traditional craft arts and modern designs, contributing to promoting the development of national fine arts.
The newly-elected Executive Committee of the VFAA consists of 11 members. Painters Vi Kien Thanh and painting critic Mai Ngoc Oanh are Vice Presidents of the association.
Over the past tenure, the VFAA organised field trips for 76 delegations with 820 members nationwide, especially tours to remote, border and island areas, as well as over 100 creation camps for more than 1,000 members. The association also presented many awards to various high-quality art works. VNA
