VietNamNet Bridge – Twenty five trucks carrying timbers from Laos into Viet Nam have been fined totally VND430 million (US$20,100) after an eight-day inspection at weigh stations in Nghe An Province.

The trucks, among the total 200 ones checked, were reportedly carrying from five to 30 per cent than allowed capacity during April 8 – 15.
Local Deputy Chief Transport Inspector Phan Huy Chuong said that the trucks underwent checks on the National Highway 7 when travelling to Nghe An Province from Nam Can border gate.
"Traffic inspectors and custom officers required these 25 trucks at Nam Can border gate to unload before entering to Vietnam from Laos," he said.
Chuong added about 100 other trucks were waiting at the border with Laos to enter Viet Nam after the Laos festival Chol Chnam Thmay.
The inspection of local Transport Department also checked out some of those suspected overloaded trucks in Con Cuong, Tuong Duong district on April 6.
Drivers locked the trucks and removed the number plates, VnExpress reported.
Other trucks lied on village roads, mountainous area to avoid checking.
In related news, two trucks examined at weighting stations were found to carry the overloaded goods which were 75 – 100 per cent exceeded the permitted capacity.
