The shipment was transporting goods from Africa aboard the Mia Schulte container ship. Authorities have been able to identify the receiver as Hoa Binh International Express Company Limited. Upon noticing the suspicious container, customs officers started to examine its contents. In total, officials discovered 311 bags containing pangolin scales hidden underneath 120 bags of Senna siamea seeds. Each bag of pangolin scales weighs between 25 to 30 kg. This bust marks the biggest pangolin scale smuggling case ever recorded in Vietnam. A further investigation is underway into the operation behind the smuggling of these illegal goods.
