VietNamNet Bridge – Customs officers at the northern port of Hai Phong on Saturday found more than a ton of elephant tusks hidden in a container of 15 tons of charcoal.

According to the Hai Phong Customs Department, the 15 tons of charcoal were packed in a 40 foot container that was temporarily imported to the Hai Phong for re-export to China.

The receiver of the shipment is a joint stock company based in the city of Mong Cai in Quang Ninh province.

After the shipment was transferred to the Hai Phong Port, this firm made the declaration form. The customs officers, finding some abnormalities with the container, inspected it and detected the elephant tusks hidden in various sacks of charcoal.
