More than 75,000 tourists including 40,000 foreign arrivals have registered to visit the old imperial city of Hue during the Lunar New Year festival (Tet), according to the Thua Thien Hue province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Almost all hotels in Thua Thien Hue province have been booked. Revenue from the province’s tourism sector is expected to fetch more than VND50,000 billion during Tet while revenues from tourism-related services are predicted to reach over VND125,000 billion.
The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre will offer tourists free entry to all relics in the first three days of the first lunar month. Diverse activities such as royal games, calligraphy writing performance, dragon dance and traditional martial arts performance will also be held on this occasion.
In January 2015 alone, the province welcomed some 178,500 visitors including 70,200 international tourists and around 108,300 local visitors, earning more than VND216 billion from tourism activities.
