Around 41,100 enterprises have delayed social insurance payments from 1-3 months, with a total debt of over VND1.9 trillion.
Over 6,700 enterprises had debts of over VND432 billion in social insurance payments for 3-6 months.
Somer 6,600 enterprises have evaded social insurance payments for over 12 years, with a total debt of over VND1.8 trillion.
The delays in payments were partly attributed to the Covid-19 pandemic and sharp drops in new orders, especially at garment and footwear enterprises.
Additionally, many enterprises lack awareness of paying social insurance premiums for their employees. Some have yet to register their workers’ social, health, or unemployment insurance.
The HCMC Social Security proposed the HCMC People’s Committee set clear guidelines for agencies, departments, and sectors to inspect debt collection activities and prevent payment evasion and relevant violations.
The city had imposed sanctions on 115 insurance debtors, with fines amounting to over VND16 trillion, from the beginning of January 2022 to the end of January 2023.
