The Police Department for Investigation of Drug-Related Crimes (PC 47) successfully uncovered 127 cases, arresting 441 offenders and seizing 242.2 kg of heroin, 5.5 kg of drugs, 30.6 kg of opium, 30.6kg of synthetic drugs and 164,635 tablets of ecstasy.

The figures were released at a July 15 meeting in Hanoi to review the first-year implementation of the emulation movement to fight drug-related crime.

Lieutenant General Do Kim Tuyen, Vice Director of PC 47, said the department actively coordinated with relevant ministries, departments, local people and mass media agencies to disseminate information to raise public awareness of drug prevention, especially the harmful effects of drug use among ethnic minorities.

In the future, it will continue to diversify fighting methods and cooperate with international organisations and other countries, especially neighboring ones, to prevent crimes, particularly drug-related crime, he said.

PC 47 will also launch campaigns to tackle drug-related crimes, focusing on border, road, air and sea routes.

On the occasion, the Ministry of Public Security presented certificates of merit to organisations and individuals for their outstanding achievements in the fight.
