VietNamNet Bridge - In the first half of 2013, the city had more than 2,600 cases of building houses without permission, mostly in Binh Chanh and Go Vap district, reported the local Department of Construction.
At the recent meeting of the People’s Council, delegates were very upset at this problem. Some delegates doubted the cover of local officials for construction magnates. HCM City Chairman Le Hoang Quan, on behalf of the People’s Committee claimed responsibility and promised to handle the matter thoroughly.
Under the guidance of the HCM City government, so far, Binh Chanh District has dismantled more than 520 houses built without permission. In August, Go Vap district also plans to dismantle 90 houses in Doi village, Ward 15. Along with that, many officials of Go Vap and Binh Chanh districts have been disciplined.
To thoroughly address this situation, HCM City authorities have asked the Department of Construction to inspect construction activities in all 24 districts.
City leaders also asked all agencies to join hands to deal with illegal construction under a common cooperation mechanism, which will be issued in late August.
